Autodesk shares rose after hours on a good earnings report, but Agilent Technologies stock fell following a lackluster profit report.
Autodesk (ADSK),? the maker of design software, reported revenue and profits ahead of Wall Street expectations.
Shares rose 1.3%, or 43 cents, in after-hours trading to $34.04.
The producer of AutoCad, the program that helps engineers and architects draft drawings for construction projects, reported third quarter profit of $72.8 million, or 32 cents per share, compared with $53.6 million, or 23 cents a share, a year ago. Adjusted earnings were 44 cents per share, four cents better than analysts expected.
Agilent Technologies (A)? reported fourth quarter net income of $289 million, or 82 cents per share, after charges, compared with $292 million, or 83 cents per share, in the year-ago quarter.
The provider of measurement analysis in a number of industries offset acquisition, restructuring costs and other charges with a a tax benefit during the period. Absent charges, earnings would have come in at $296 million, or 84 cents per share, a couple pennies better than analysts expected.
While Agilent revenue came in a bit thin, shares were fluctuated up and down after hours, with the last check indicating a decline of nearly 3%, or $1.05 cents, to $37.20.
