Let take a look at high dividend paying ETFs that offer an opportunity for both growth and income. Growth & income exchange-traded funds typically run the gamut from all equity to balanced asset allocation options.
Should you own a growth and income ETF? Would it be better to own a solid growth ETF and solid income ETF? Is there an ETF that offers a bridge between the two?
Maybe. Often. Yes.
I have a growth and income bias toward owning ETFs with specific trajectories rather than simply opting for a blend. Furthermore, when looking at more equity-concentrated growth and income ETFs, my preference is for creative sources of income (dividends and convertibles) as opposed to the pure equity approach. (If I want pure equity, there are many ETFs in today market that can provide that.)
I think the right place to be now and over the next 10 years will generally be in equities, not at the exclusion of bonds, but not without being selective and flexible, strategic and tactical about the types of bonds you own, the role they play in your portfolio (as a stock market buffer and/or as a source of reliable income) and the duration that you hold one offering or another.

Body Central (BODY) operates apparel stores and also conducts direct business via catalogues and Web site. This stock closed up 3.8% to $3.52 in Tuesday's trading session.
Tuesday's Range: $3.40-$3.55
52-Week Range: $3.09-$13.39
Tuesday's Volume: 475,000
Three-Month Average Volume: 421,188
From a technical perspective, BODY trended higher here right above some near-term support at $3.21 with above-average volume. This move pushed shares of BODY into breakout territory, since the stock took out some near-term overhead resistance at $3.50. This move is also coming off oversold territory, since BODY's current relative strength index reading is 29.89. Oversold can always get more oversold, but it's also an area where a stock can experience a powerful bounce from.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in BODY as long as it's trending above some key near-term support levels at $3.21 or at $3.09 and then once it sustains a move or close above Tuesday's high of $3.55 with volume that hits near or above 421,188 shares. If we get that move soon, then BODY will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $4 to $4.50.

Richard Drew/AP NEW YORK -- The stock market started November on a strong note as investors reacted to an expansion in U.S. manufacturing last month. The improvement came during what could have been a difficult month for the U.S. economy, with a partial government shutdown that lasted 16 days and a narrowly averted default on the U.S. government's debt, which could have rattled financial markets. "With what happened in the last two months, it's amazing how strong this market has been," said Bob Doll, chief equity strategist at Nuveen Asset Management. The Institute for Supply Management reported that its manufacturing index increased to 56.4, the highest level since April 2011. That was better than the 55.1 figure economists were expecting, according financial data provider FactSet. The Dow Jones industrial average (^DJI) rose 69.80 points, or 0.5 percent, to 15,615.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 index (^GPSC) rose 5.10 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,761.64. The Nasdaq composite (^IXIC) rose 2.34 points, or 0.1 percent, to 3,922.04. Energy stocks lagged the market after Chevron (CVX) reported that its third-quarter income fell 6 percent, missing analysts' estimates, due to weakness in the company's oil refining business. Chevron fell $1.95, or 1.6 percent, to $118.01. The energy sector was also weighed down by a drop in the price of oil. Crude oil fell $1.77, or 1.8 percent, to $94.61 a barrel. The positive start to this month's trading comes after a strong October for the stock market. The S&P 500 closed at a record high seven times during the month, most recently on Tuesday. It ended October with a gain of 4.5 percent. However, some investors have expressed skepticism that stocks can keep up this rapid pace pace heading into the last two months of the year. The S&P 500 is up 23 percent so far this year, while the average annual return on the S&P 500 is around 8 percent. Stocks are also starting to look expensive by some measures. Investo

Having done about all it could to increase US crude exports, by granting export licenses to Canada (permitted under the current system), I think the Obama administration is likely to move to grant new export licenses to countries other than Canada in 2014. That policy change would turn US oil producers into a rare bright spot in an energy sector that is looking at stable or falling global oil prices in 2014. Stocks I'd take a look at are Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD), Concho Resources (CXO) and Targa Resources Partners (NGLS). Pioneer Natural Resources is a member of my Jubak Picks 50 long-term portfolio. Targa Resources Partners is a member of my Jubak's Picks 12-18 month portfolio

Concho Resources, Inc. (CXO) is an independent E&P company focused on the Permian Basin in West Texas. Concho shares rose in the first quarter as the company provided greater detail about a significant increase in its oil and gas resource potential across its acreage position in the Permian and particularly in the Delaware sub-basin. The combination of the increase in the company's drilling inventory, strong initial well results and a faster than expected acceleration in its drilling inventory bode well for Concho's production growth outlook and for improvements in its net asset value.
