It wasn a good quarter for Cott Corporation (COT) as the company had trouble with its volumes. Cott Corporation engages in the production and distribution of retailer brand beverages in North America and globally. It offers carbonated soft drinks, flavored waters, energy-related drinks, juice, juice-based products, bottled water and ready-to-drink teas. It primarily serves grocery, mass-merchandise, drugstore, wholesale and convenience store chains.
Time to Improve
Cott Corporation is of the strong view that its comparables will ease in the current fiscal 2014, and raw material tailwinds should kick in at current spot rates. This would stimulate the company to profitability. However, the key question remains, how long will it take for trends to stabilize?
As stated by Deutsche Bank analyst Bill Schmitz Jr. in a client note, "Today, the biggest risk to an otherwise compelling growth and margin opportunity in 2014 is aggressive competitive price points by the national branded competitors, who appear to be redeploying savings from likely unanticipated commodity cost weakness to relatively deep price promotions."

Small cap stocks Beeston Enterprises Ltd (OTCMKTS: BESE) and HD Retail Solutions Inc (OTCMKTS: HDRE) surged 33.33% and 11.54%, respectively, on Black Friday while Frontier Beverage Company Inc (OTCMKTS: FBEC) sank 18.18%. And while Black Friday might be the most important shopping day of the year for retailers, its probably not a day that sees a lot of action from investors and traders still digesting their Thanksgiving meals (or busy looking for deals at their favorite retailers). So what direction will these three small cap stocks do for investors and traders this week? Here is a closer look to help you decide:

- [By David Oara]
For an increasing number of U.K.-listed companies, Africa is their number one growth market. One example is super-brewerSABMiller (LSE: SAB ) (NASDAQOTH: SBMRY ) . In its recent final results, SAB reported 18% sales growth in Africa versus just 5% in Europe. The EBITDA contribution from Africa was 20% ahead of the previous year, too.
- [By Brianna Valleskey]
As Theron pointed out, many companies that are big global players also have South African roots, including SABMiller (OTC: SBMRY), Compagnie Financière Richemont (OTC: CFRUY) and BHP Billiton Limited (NYSE: BHP).

Luckily, there is another way. The FTSE 100 contains a number of companies whose earnings come from these countries. Two great examples are Diageo (LSE: DGE ) (NYSE: DEO ) and SABMiller (LSE: SAB ) (NASDAQOTH: SBMRY ) , which sell spirits and beer, respectively, and have global operations providing exactly the kind of emerging-market exposure I'm looking for.

Trying to tap into that market would be a difficult task for anyone, even forSABMiller (NASDAQOTH: SBMRY ) ,the world's second largest brewer, which is why it undoubtedly figured that by hooking up with Canada's biggest operator, Molson Coors (NYSE: TAP ) , with 39% of the beer market, it would have an easier time of getting better distribution. Their MillerCoors joint venture was created in 2007 and mainly distributes beer in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, but it also allows Molson to market and distribute certain Miller brands in Canada.

Indeed, consumer-oriented stocks are among the weakest performers in the Dow today. Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO ) is down 2%, likely in response to a reduced forecast from independent bottler Coca-Cola Enterprises (NYSE: CCE ) . The bottling company said continued trouble in the European economy combined with cold, rainy weather throughout much of the region led to volume declines of 2.5% for the quarter, confirming Coca-Cola's own 4% decline in soda sales in North America that it reported last week. Coke investors need to remember that Coke, with its global operations, is not influenced by U.S.-centric consumer figures so much as domestically focused companies.
