5 Best Services Stocks To Watch Right Now

PORTLAND, Ore. (TheStreet) -- The demise of one-time video rental titan Blockbuster finally puts that chain's long struggle with an evolving marketplace to rest, but it doesn't answer one question: Who's going to rent everyone their DVDs?

Admittedly, it's not great out there for the last DVD renters. Since 1999, the number of video stores in the U.S. has dropped from 28,000 to just 6,122 in last year before the Blockbuster closings, according to the Entertainment Merchants Association. Contrary to what the self-inflicted tragedy of Blockbuster may lead consumers to believe, however, its death isn't the end of DVD rental. While Blockbuster made up a large portion of that particular industry, market research firm IBISWorld notes it's still a $4 billion market that still has a core of demand. That core has shrunk nearly 14% since 2008 -- thanks largely to Blockbuster's troubles -- but video-on-demand services from Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC), DirecTV (DTV), Dish Network (DISH) and on-demand streaming services from Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) iTunes and Wal-Mart's (WMT) Vudu haven't killed it yet.

RadioShack Corp (RSH). just tumbled below the stock market’s version of the Mendoza Line.

Shares dropped under $1 Friday morning for the first time ever, as the beleaguered electronics retailer continues to struggle and bankruptcy rumors swirl. Early this month the company reported ugly quarterly numbers that sparked some dire outlooks from Wall Street analysts, including one who slashed his price target to $0 and said the shares were worthless.

Wall Street had another rising day, with the Dow Industrials and the S&P 500 reaching new record highs. But one tech stock tanked and the momentum took a bunch of others in the sector down with it. The Dow Jones industrial average (^DJI) closed 25 points higher, the Nasdaq composite (^IXIC) added 8 points, and the Standard & Poor's 500 index (^GPSC) was up 3 points. One of the top gainers on the S&P 500 was used car giant CarMax (KMX). Its share price zoomed higher by 16.5 percent with revenue and profits hitting record levels. The still lackluster economic recovery is causing many to drive off lots in used cars instead of new vehicles. And the hottest model over the past two years? The Nissan Altima. Automotive retailer AutoNation (AN), which runs new and used dealerships, also got a boost, rising more than 5 percent. It was a different story for software giant Oracle (ORCL), which was one of the S&P 500's biggest losers. Its stock fell 4 percent on sagging earnings. Social media stocks fell too. Pandora (P) was down 1.5 percent as was Groupon (GRPN), LinkedIn (LNKD) lost almost 1 percent and Amazon (AMZN) fell less than 1 percent two days after unveiling its first smartphone. But poor Radioshack (RSH). Its stock hit a new low, trading below a dollar a share for the first time after falling almost 10 percent. Since the beginning of the year the stock is down 64 percent. One analyst has a price target of zero on the stock. Ouch. (We hope you don't have that one in your portfolio.) And Darden's (DRI) earnings weren't very appetizing. Profits came in much lower than expected and guidance was weak. The stock fell 4 percent. It is selling its Red Lobster chain and trying to focus on revamping Olive Garden. Solar stocks had a bright day, though. Shares of SunEdison (SUNE) shone brightly rising 1.5 percent on news it was acquiring some solar farms in Massachusetts. Other solar stocks also basked on the day. Canadian Solar gained 6 percent, and

Al Behrman/AP It seems as if the company that's been providing batteries and power adapters for decades is starting to run out of juice. RadioShack (RSH) is hitting new all-time lows this week, and it's going to be a challenge for it just to stick around beyond this holiday shopping season. The chain of small-box strip mall shops that specialize in consumer electronics can't seem to get anything right these days. Store-level sales continue to slip. Losses continue to mount. Store closures and pink slips are the norm. With creditors running out of patience, it could mean that RadioShack is running out of time. Another Step Down RadioShack posted another brutal quarter late last week. Sales fell by more than 16 percent relative to the same period a year earlier, fueled partly by shuttered locations but mostly by a 13.4 percent drop in comparable-store sales over the past year. The biggest drag at RadioShack is its wireless offerings. The company took a big gamble a few years ago, transforming its stores from a place for locals to grab small consumer electronics items to one that emphasizes mobile phone services from most of the leading carriers. RadioShack figured that it could fare better than the stand-alone shops of individual carriers by having a one-stop destination where customers can comparison-shop across the different providers. This was also the strategy that Best Buy (BBY) was taking on when it began to open smaller Best Buy Mobile shops. It hasn't worked. RadioShack still devotes shelf space to many of the traditional retail consumer electronic products it used to carry. That segment is holding up relatively better, but we're still seeing negative sales growth there. The Iffy Road to Merry Christmas 2015 RadioShack has started to remodel some of its stores. The extreme makeovers are paying off. Comparable-store sales at those stores are also negative, but they're holding up a lot better than the traditional format. The challenge for RadioShack

A consumer goods player that's starting to trend within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Amira Nature Foods (ANFI), a global provider of packaged Indian specialty rice, with sales in over 40 countries. This stock has been in play with the bulls over the last three months, with shares up 25%.

If you take a look at the chart for Amira Nature Foods, you'll notice that this stock has been uptrending strong for the last five months, with shares soaring higher from its low of $7.44 to its recent high of $17.41 a share. During that uptrend, shares of ANFI have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. Shares of ANFI have started to break out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels today at $15.92 to $16.25 a share. That move is quickly pushing shares of ANFI within range of triggering another big breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ANFI if it manages to break out above its all-time high of $17.41 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above that level with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 226,387 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then ANFI will set up to enter new all-time-high territory, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $25 to $27 a share.

Traders can look to buy ANFI off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $15.03 a share or around more key near-term support at $14.72 a share. One could also buy ANFI off strength once it starts to clear $17.41 a share with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Advisors' Opinion:

In possibly related news, shares of a Danone sometimes-partner, sometimes-rival in the drinkable yogurt market, kefir-maker Lifeway Foods (NASDAQ: LWAY  ) , is seeing its shares come under pressure Tuesday. Specializing in grocery sales, Lifeway also operates a chain of yogurt-inspired restaurants of its own known as "Starfruit Cafe." As Danone shares gain 0.5%, Lifeway is down 4.5%.

Once the budget impasse is wrapped up though, a new Dairy Stabilization Act should be right around the corner. That’s good news for a small-cap company like dairy farm Lifeway Foods (LWAY), which saw its shares fall nearly 25% over the course of August and September when the budget impasse was shaping up.
